![]() ![]() ![]() I only mention it under the shroud of anonymity, the possibility that it might help someone else at some point, and maybe a little vengeance. Other than that, people don't usually want to share that they know him. I remember seeing eviction records and other court cases, like a dozen. If you look up Steven Tran in Riverside/Inland Empire and in Orange County (California) in public court records, you'll find him. Contrary to what some people believe, it is possible to have an American English-sounding first name when you are a first or second-generation immigrant. Unfortunately, I have come across this Steven Tran. They’re not all scammers when they do.As entertaining as this thread has been. I am leery of their margins based on what they’ve talked about, they seem way too low to float what they’re trying to do.īut people come and go, maybe not as publicly, but I’ve collected for 25 years, I had a good guy who used to get me vintage Girards and Omegas who just up and stopped doing it. They probably wanted to grow out of those bases and add new base, people vaguely interested, people such as myself who largely don’t follow any of them but know about them etc.Ĭould they simply be moving and publicity? Sure it’s the end of the month rent could be up, a holiday weekend, people are talking. A lot of the watch community is kind of split up or people will follow and watch a few of the people. There are a lot of watch YouTubers and perhaps they thought they could get a big subscription base and viewership. The YouTube channel kind of reminds me of one of those hardcore pawn type reality shows. If it got big enough it would cover a good amount of the overhead. I suspect the real idea, while I could be wrong, was primarily to grow the youtube base. Sharf's "Grey Market", whilst still finding it's feet and general identity, already is a far (in my opinion) watch. In my opinion, this is just going to drive viewers to channels which have a greater focus on watches, and watch info. ![]() Their viewership has definitely dwindled in recent weeks, and this isn't going to save them. The theory of a rebranding somewhat explains the premises being stripped. It is beyond bad practice to go dark with such inventory. Whoever devised it should not be running a business. If this transpires to be a PR stunt, then it was a poor one. Agaaain, with that said, I can certainly see head-strong Anthony refusing to do it any other way than the way he thinks it should be done. With that said, I could definitely see the habitual overspending being their downfall. The crux of the issue seems that there is nobody in the business with any commercial awareness? I'm not sure whether the "Day in the life" videos are edited to make Mike seem less capable than he really is - but - as an ops manager, he really should have a better hold on the business. My personal opinion is that this is most likely a horrible PR stunt. I - like a lot of you here - had high hopes for this business. Sidebar photo idea courtesy of /u/omega703 If you're looking to buy a Rolex online, try this list of well-known sellers. "Hi I'm Steve from RandomStrapCo, here are some pics of our new strap" is 100% fine, but thinly-veiled promotional posts from throwaways are not appreciated and will be removed. Promotional posts from vendors are fine, as long as you're upfront about who you are, participate in some discussion, and don't spam the sub with multiple threads. And no posts from toilets or moving cars, you savages! Memes and shitposts will generally be deleted unless they're actually funny or create relevant discussion. Posts that are easily Google-able will be removed at mods' discretion, as well as basic questions that have been frequently asked in the past (such as, " Are Rolex watches good investments?"). This is a place to discuss Rolex and Tudor watches. Contests and/or giveaways must be cleared with the mods before being posted. There are subreddits and websites that are dedicated to buying/selling watches, including /r/WatchExchange. Questions about particular watches being real/fake should go in the stickied Monthly Watch Verification thread and not a new thread.Īt this time, buying/selling threads are not permitted. This is the oldest rule of this community, kept in place since the beginning. Replica/fake/counterfeit watch posts and discussion are explicitly forbidden, aside from text posts about how to identify and avoid fakes. Report any comments that break this basic rule. No personal attacks, even if you think a user's model is dubious. Reddit's go-to source for news and discussion about Rolex and Tudor watches. ![]()
